Everyone's favorite electrified monster, Boris Karloff was not the first choice for Frankenstein (1931) - fellow horror actor Bela Lugosi had already turned it down.
Karloff was billed as just "?" in the film credits!
The first illustrations of the Incredible Hulk were inspired by Karloff's portrayal of The Monster.

Karloff was not as scary as he seemed - when not playing his many monster roles, he was petrified of mice and loved gardening!
