Small town veterinarian girl attempts to move to Washington DC for a new job because that's where her boyfriend lives. Snow storm delays her. Also delayed is a single father who is trying to fly to a Florida cruise to avoid Christmas. There is a magic snow globe and spoiler alert: every wish anyone makes on it gets granted in the very last couple minutes of the movie.

In northern Vermont, so far north that on clear days you might be able to see the north pole, is the magical town of Evergreen.
Some say it was the decorations that made this little town so special, but others believed it was because of something else entirely, something you wouldn't expect at all... a snow globe. But this wasn't just any snow globe. No, they say that if you shake this one just so and make one wish, the true wish of your heart, Christmas magic will make it come true. Now I know what you're thinking, could a snow globe really grant wishes? Well maybe the story of Christmas and Evergreen will help you believe.

QUOTE:Hey Zoe, now I am officially on vacation. Just you and me off to Florida and our big cruise on Christmas Day. Won't that be fun? "Sure we can have fun in Florida. I mean Christmas is supposed to be cold with snow but..." According to who? "Santa. That's why he wears a suit." Oh, you know, I didn't know that. But

QUOTE:"You could've walked to DC by now." Don't we have enough real snow? "Oh this is for the Christmas festival. You know, the one you're going to miss?" Yes, I'm aware. I'm missing the Christmas festival. Thank you for the reminder. "Boy I tell you, whoever decided to take over after you planned this thing is crazy." You're taking over the planning! "Like I said."

QUOTE:We've got Angels, Blitzen, Candy Canes, Decorations, Elves... Fireplace! "Fireplace isn't a Christmas word." It's what Santa comes down. "Santa comes down the chimney." Okay, okay. Um, how about Fruitcake? "Pretty good." Pretty good? "Okay, my turn: G. Um, Angels, Blitzen, Candy Canes, Decorations, Elves, Fruitcake... and Gingerbread. Mm-mm-mm!" That's a good one! "Thanks! Except for now I'm hungry."

QUOTE:Sorry Henry. She is not in labor. "Are you sure? I heard her mooing." Cows moo. It's a common occurrence. "It was a different kind. It was an 'I'm about to give birth' moo." QUOTE:Does the snow globe really grant wishes? "Only if you know what your heart really wants." Where did it come from? "See, nobody knows. One day right after we opened this diner. It just showed up on our doorstep and it's been here ever since, with that sign. People come from all over to make wishes. It's a tradition here in Evergreen." Have you ever made one? "Ah, I have. When I first got it, I wished to have a little girl just like you, and you know what? My wish came true! So would you like to try it." Sure. "All right." *whispers* I wish we could have Christmas here in Evergreen.

QUOTE:How was lunch? "It was great and I made a wish on the snow globe. I'm pretty sure it's what my heart wanted." You know what my grandpa used to say, the heart knows what it wants even when the head doesn't. So what did you wish for? "I can't tell you or else it won't come true. But I'm starting to worry that it's not going to come true anyways." Hmm, well maybe you should wish for it again give it a little turbo boost. "But I don't have the snow globe." Oh it's pretty powerful. I bet it'll be able to hear you from all the way over here. *starts wishing* [loudspeaker]: Ladies and gentlemen, sorry to report that due to heavy snow. We are closing the runways and canceling all flights.

QUOTE:"Come sit with us, Allie! You can tell us about Evergreen." What would you like to know? "Well what do you do for Christmas?" Oh , well every year we have this big festival with food, games, and a choir. People come from all over the place. It's the town's biggest tradition. "What do you do in Evergreen?" I run a veterinarian practice, or, I did, but now I'm moving to Washington DC to start a new job and, for a change of scenery. "So you're not going to spend Christmas in Evergreen? No, for the first time in forever.

QUOTE:"Allie, my Dad's a people doctor, and you're a pet doctor. So you're kind of the same." "Except, well, except my patients can tell me where it hurts." Oh, you've obviously never met an unhappy reindeer.

QUOTE:Hey guys, what's going on? I just got your message. "Getting a little lesson in municipal finance from Mr. Stingy over here." "A water pipe burst in the town hall. Water everywhere, which then froze. It's like an ice-skating rink in there." "We can fix it in time." "Sure we could, if there was enough in the town hall preservation fund, but the festival was raising money for the town hall preservation fund." Which is kind of ironic if you think about it. Sorry.

QUOTE:So wait, if you don't mind me asking, why Florida? "Sarah, my wife, she died last year just before Christmas, which was really hard, you know? So every candy cane, every Christmas tree was like a reminder. So anyway, this year I wanted Zoe to have sunny, palm trees, Florida, stay as far away from Christmas as possible." And then I brought you to the Vermont version of the North Pole. "Well it's like North Pole adjacent. It's like a suburb of the North Pole." Yeah, like right there on the commuter line." Right there."

QUOTE:"Is there a Christmas festival where you're moving to Allie?" Oh, I think there is but it's nothing like the one in Evergreen. "Then why do you want to move there?" Well, I've lived here my whole life, and it's a wonderful place. It really is, but there's a whole big wide world out there. I want to see it. I'm ready for a change.

QUOTE:You know, my grandpa used to say, the further you get from where you started, the closer you get to where you belong. "But what if you belong here?

QUOTE:Making cookies for Santa? "Uh, for the festival." Well, it's nice that you're doing that. "It's the least we could do. Everyone's been so nice to us, especially Allie. I just wish there was something I could do to return the favor." Well, a little bird told me she doesn't have a Christmas tree. "No, she doesn't. Thank you. Oh hey, I didn't catch your name." I'm Nick. Merry Christmas.

QUOTE:"Okay Michele, Michele I just need you to breathe OK?" I don't have time to breathe! "Michele, do you remember the 12 days of Christmas? On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love gave to me what was it?" Drummers. Twelve drummer's drumming right? "That's right, that's right. Okay, what's next?" Piper's piping. Eleven. "Great, okay. Keep going." I don't know ten. I don't know it. "Lords." Lords ten lords, a-leaping. Um, uh... then it's nine ladies dancing, and eight maids, a-milking, right? Swans, geese, uh, five golden rings, four calling birds, three French hens, two turtle doves... and a partridge in a pear tree. "Great. How do you feel" Better. What'd you do? "You were having a panic attack and counting is one of the things that can alleviate it. I just thought we'd stick to a Christmas theme." "Are you OK" Yes I am.

QUOTE:What's wrong Zoe? "Well I made a wish on the snow globe and I thought it was coming true but now I'm not so sure." Oh well, was it something your heart truly wanted? "Yes. My whole body wanted it. Even my toes!" In that case, I don't think you have anything to worry about. "Are you sure?" I'm sure. You just have to be patient. Wishes are like Christmas cookies: it sometimes takes a while for them to be fully baked.

QUOTE:What about you Ryan? Have you changed your mind about making a Christmas wish? "Uh, no. No, I don't really believe in that sort of thing." You know people get busy and they forget about the magic of the holidays but all they have to do is stop for a moment and open their eyes because that magic, it's all around us!

QUOTE:You do belong in Washington DC... and I don't. I belong here "But what about your new job?" I love my job here. I get to take care of tiny little puppies and I get to birth calves. That's incredible! And I have family and friends and Christmas in a place that I love. "Listen I think you're just nervous about making such a big change" Well see that's the thing. I thought I was ready for this big change and I am but I think I thought I had to leave Evergreen in order to find it. I kept telling myself I needed more. Everything I needed was right here all along. "What can I do to convince you that I'm right about this?" I think you'd be trying to convince yourself. Merry Christmas Spencer. But I have to ask you, did your Christmas wish come true?" Oh, I think it did. Yeah maybe not in the way that I'd hoped but I think I learned something. "And what's that my dear? Sometimes you end up exactly where you're supposed to be. "I guess that's why it's called Christmas magic." Maybe. Can I offer you a ride into town? "No. I have my own transportation."

QUOTE:What are you doing here? "Heard you may be looking for a small town doctor." Oh careful you don't want Ezra to hear you say that. He'll never let you leave. Did your flight get canceled again? "Yes but that's not why we came back." It's not? "No. This has been a completely unexpected, amazing, magical Christmas for both Zoe and me. Because of you." I'm not moving to Washington DC. "I know." How? "Because this is where you're supposed to be... and Ally, I don't know if this is where I'm supposed to be or not but I need to find out because something keeps bringing me back here." Is it a magical Christmas snow globe? "Maybe."

The Christmas feast that year was truly special.
Surrounded by family and friends old and new, the spirit of the holidays was all around them, and it lived on for many yuletide seasons to come... but perhaps these are stories for another time. Until then hold tight to the magic of Christmas. You never know when the next wish might come true.
