Together Again For the First Time

I must be honest. That's what youth is demanding these days and that's what I'm gonna give 'em, honesty. I do not now, nor have I ever, understood why they have liner notes on albums.

If you've looked at the cover of this Album, you already know that
a. Carol Burnett recorded some of the songs.
b. Martha Raye recorded some of the songs.
c. Carol and Martha recorded some of the songs, together.
d. With that combination it can't help being a great Album.

If you know Carol and Martha you have long since picked up the Album and taken it over to the cashier. In which case you're reading these Album notes on your way home on the freeway and you're not going to make it.

If you don't know Carol and Martha, you are a very sick person and you need a doctor, and album notes aren't going to help any.

I could tell you about Tetragrammaton but I have never recorded for them. I could be completely honest and tell you that I didn't even know Tetragrammaton was a record company. I thought it was a miracle drug - the only known cure for the dread disease - stereo oscilliscope.

I could do some musical commentary on the jazz scene using words like lyrical, soul, arpeggio, earthy, consummate, and parmig-iana, but that doesn't have much to do with these gals. They aren't pur-ists. They just get out there and sock it to you.

I could tell you what great chicks they are - but I'm not a pusher.

One of them has won a batch of Emmies... the other one just got the Jean Hersholt Academy Award. If they expect to get the word to you they better hire a press agent. I'm just gonna sulk.

Besides, the great thing about albums is that they can speak for themselves. So listen... it's great.
