James Stewart
As George Bailey in It's A Wonderful Life (1946)
- James Stewart is portrayed here as his character, small town banker 'George Bailey', a role for which he was Oscar nominated, in the Hollywood Christmas classic It's A Wonderful Life (1946)
- His performance in The Philadelphia Story (1940) won him an Academy Award, and he is also well recognized for his work on many Hollywood classics such as Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939), Rear Window (1954) and The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956)
- Stewart was passionate about flying and serving his country in the WWII effort. He served with the Air Corps rising to the rank of a Colonel and received the Distinguished Service Medal. After the war he remained with the US Air Force Reserves and was promoted to Brigadier General (USAF Reserve)
