Ginger Rogers
From Swing Time (1936)
- An actress on stage and screen, Ginger Rogers' career included appearances in vaudeville and on Broadway, before her pairing with Fred Astaire which led to one of the most magical dance partnerships in the history of Hollywood
- Together, Rogers and Astaire made ten films including Flying Down to Rio (1933), Roberta (1935) and Swing Time (1936). It was her role as 'Kitty' in Kitty Foyle (1940) that won her a Best Actress Academy Award
- The name Ginger did not originate from the color of her hair, but instead was a nickname that stuck after a younger cousin couldn't pronounce the name Virginia properly
Born Virginia Katherine McMath on July 16, 1911 in Independence, MO
Died April 25, 1995 in Rancho Mirage, CA
