Ripley was the first to expose PT Barnum's famous Feejee Island Mermaid as nothing more than a monkey skull cleverly sewn to a fish tail - New York City Odditorium 1939.

Charity Baseball Team

Ripley's famous 1939-40 charity baseball team
Boasted both Babe Ruth and Walter Johnson, two of the first inductees into the Baseball Hall of Fame. It also included several movie stars of the day including Jimmy Durante and W.C. Fields.
