  • George Burns show business career covered vaudeville, radio, television and film for over three quarters of a century. His best loved films included Oh, God! (1977), Going in Style (1979) and Oh, God! You Devil (1984). He was 80 when he won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for The Sunshine Boys (1975)
  • Burns lived with his wife, Gracie, on 720 North Maple Drive, in Beverly Hills. The house was used as the facade for The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show, from 1950 through 1958, though it was called 213 Maple Street on the TV show
  • He chose his surname "Burns" from the Burns Brothers Coal Company. He used to steal coal from their trucks when he was growing up
