Steps to Propagating Succulents

Succulent Propagation
  1. Pluck leaves fro the lower stems
Gently twist the entire leaf off at the base, making sure that it is removed close to the stem.
  2. Cut the top off the Succulent
The top piece can be replanted, and the stem will grow back.
  3. Lay the leaves out to dry
Allow the leaves to dry agter 3-7 days. This varies depending on the light and heat conditions.
  4. Place the leaves on soil
Once a callus has formed on the cut end, place the leaves gently on top of soil.

Succulent Propagation

Water Propagation
Follow steps 1-3 as Steps to Propagating Succulents.
Once the cutting has calloused over, rest a cutting on the rim of a jar of water. Over time the cutting will sprout roots that will reach toward the water. Once roots have developed, succulents can continue to live in the water jar, or replanted in a pot with soil.

  1. Watering the cuttings
Lightly Water. Water cutting about once a week to avoid them drying out.
  2. Let the cutting grow
The cutting will develop roots and then sprout new leaves in about 1-2 months.
  3. Repotting the new succulents
Eventually, the original leaf will wither and fall off. You can then plant the new succulents into a fresh pot.
