It was a great honor to be a part of the 1988 World Championship. Our season was a tribute to great teamwork and the work of those in the organization from Scouts to Player Development to our Major League Stop. We had a great group of players performing before the greatest fans in the game.

The New Mr October: Orel Hershiser

During my 24 year Major League Career I was fortunate to catch 16 Cy Young Award Winners. To name a few - Jim Katt (Minn) Mel Stoddlemeyer (NYY) Jim Catfish Hunter (NYY) and Jim Palmer (Balt) along with many other greats. None of them ever has a season like Orel Hershiser in 1988. 59 consecutive scoreless innings with 6 Shutouts. Capped off with this World Series Win. It was the greatest season I ever saw.

The 1955 Dodgers wen wire to wire. I was privileged to win opening day. Our team wanted that World Series so bad - the only one in Brooklyn history.

Home Run King

Growing up as a kid, my father's favorite team was the Brooklyn Dodgers and his favorite player was First Baseman Gil Hodges. To play First Base for the Dodgers was one of the Best gifts I could give my Dad. Now, as a Father, I have a greater appreciation for what the organization has meant - and continues to mean - to my family.

1981 was one of the most greatest moments, as it was my first successful World Series Victory. And then to repeat this in 1988. I was so proud of my team. And to do it for the greatest fans in all of baseball, they deserved this.

I felt that what they were attempting to do was wrong - and I still feel that way today. The flag represents a lot of lives & freedoms we have as Americans and honors those who have sacrificed to protect them.
