Rookie of the Year

At the end of the regular season the Baseball Writers' Association of America votes for ROY based on a weighted points system. A rookie is less than 45 days of non-September service time prior to the season (or less than 130 at-bats) (or less than 50 innings pitched).

• 1947 it was MLB's best overall rookie (one award per season)
• 1949 on: Two awards per season: one for AL and one for NL
• 1987 Jackie Robinson was the inaugural award. They renamed it the Jackie Robinson Award. Prior to that it was a Ford C. Frick Award but the Ford C. Frick Award became known as Baseball Hall of Fame's Honoree for Broadcasting award. [https://www.eatlife.net/dodger-stadium/ford-c-frick-award.php]
