Walter O'Malley was the driving force behind the design, construction and financing of Dodger Stadium. During O'Malley's tenure as principal owner from 1950 to 1979, the Brooklyn / Los Angeles Dodgers won four World Series titles (1955, 1959, 1963, 1965) and 11 National League pennants. He was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2008.

Roosevelt Stadium
While negotiating with Brooklyn officials for a new ballpark to replace Ebbets Field, the Dodgers played a combined 15 "home games" at Roosevelt Stadium during the 1956 and 1957 seasons.
Although the Dodgers were fresh off a World Series victory in 1955, team president Walter O'Malley, shown in this photo, warned the Dodgers would not play in Ebbets Field beyond the 1957 Season. The Dodgers moved to the West Coast in 1958.
