Roosevelt Stadium was in New Jersey


It was built in 1937 and hosted baseball games, boxing matches and other regional sporting events. It was demolished in 1985.

While negotiating with Brooklyn officials for a new ballpark to replace Ebbets Field, the Dodgers played a combined 15 "home games" at Roosevelt Stadium during the 1956 and 1957 seasons.

Although the Dodgers were fresh off a World Series victory in 1955, team president Walter O'Malley, shown in this photo, warned the Dodgers would not play in Ebbets Field beyond the 1957 Season. Jackie Robinson


Roosevelt Stadium played host to Jackie Robinson's first professional game with the Brooklyn Dodgers' Triple-A Montreal Royals affiliate on April 18, 1946. Robinson had four hits, including a three-run home run, in Montreal's 14-1 victory over the Jersey City Giants.

Robinson also played in Roosevelt Stadium as a member of the Dodgers in 1956.
