Kenesaw Mountain Landis Awards

Two awards per season: one for the AL and one for the NL
Started 1911 as the most important and useful player to the club and to the league. in 1924 - 1929 it became the baseball player who is of the greatest all-around service to his club with no prior MVP's allowed. Then in 1931 they changed it to at the end of the regular season the Baseball Writers' Association of America votes for the MVP based on a weighted points system.

Kenesaw Mountain Landis
The first baseball commissioner starting in 1920 until 1944. He was brought in to bring integrity back into the game after the Black Sox Scandal (where 8 players on the Chicago White Sox were paid by gamblers to throw the 1919 World Series).
